A touch of Mexico - a novelty in Switzerland!

Chipeño is the smoky, Chipotle salsa with its own character. It originates in the north of Mexico. The hand-picked jalapeños are harvested as ripe as possible and then smoked over a wood fire, as the Aztecs used to do. This process gives the jalapeños their smoky and fiery flavour and turns them into so-called chipotles. Chipeño, by the way, is a play on words from chipotle and jalapeño.

The chipotle chilli belongs to the jalapeño family. During the ripening process, the jalapeño changes from its familiar green colour to red. Almost overripe, it is picked and then dried over a wood fire. This last processing step is crucial for the unique taste and shelf life.

Chipeño is an excellent accompaniment to:
